I know some are missing me ever since I leave to NS. But hey, I'm still doing fine and I enjoy and treasure it much now =)
Please do wait me for another month and I'll be back again =D
Back to the topic, I purposely applied leave back to KL from my camp as I need to attend the NTU scholarship interview at JW Marriott Hotel today.
While my memory still fresh with what happened just now, I should blog about it =D
I went to meet the counselor the day before my interview and following is what they advice me :
- Smart attire. Formal and don't wear till too kiddy (Pinpointing me TT) Girls are encouraged to wear skirts and put on light make up. (I didn't follow anyway =.=)
- Be confident and be calm. Be yourself and it's just a chit chatting.
- Don't bring unnecessary things. They will be your burden.
- No negative and sensitive issues.
Some useful info from the net, you can click here too =)
I didn't prepared well anyway as I was in a rush. (Poor time management TT)
I didn't prepared well anyway as I was in a rush. (Poor time management TT)
My interview time was set 4.45 pm and we are required to reach 30 mins earlier. And the person-in-charge called me when I was on the way to the venue even though it's super early. He scared me and I thought I remember the wrong time =.=
Once reach, the person-in-charge was there waiting and I finally know why he called me. There left only 1 guy before me =.=
I got my admission letter from him and he briefed me.
Well, he told me that there were 4 panels - 2 prof from different course, 1 from admission department and 1 from scholarship department. They are friendly and fatherly. Take it as chit-chatting but not interview cause those panels don't know me and what I should do is to promote myself to the "strangers". Do talk more but talk humbly and take your time =) Most important is to have eye contact with every interviewers but not only the one asking you question.
I left everything outside and went in alone with nth on my hand.
Greet the interviewers and they really look friendly =)
Following will be some questions and answers that I did =D
- What had you been doing lately? Tell us more abt that. - NS and explain I enjoy it, trained me to be more independent.
- What you do usually besides study or you 24/7 study only? - Nope, I did voluntary work like xxxx...
- Besides academic achievement, what non-academic achievement you can share with us? - Crapped sth abt leadership and I forgot what else I mention =.=
- What values do you have as a scholarship holder? - Leadership and explain my experience of being assistant head prefect.
- Are you disappoint when you got only your forth choice? - Nope, as it's still my choice =D
- Is NTU your first and only choice? Any other oversea uni you applied to? - Only NTU and local uni.
- Why only NTU? You think it's easy to enter? - Nope, it's hard, That's why I wanna challenge and I'm glad I success =D
- What is your dream beside of the career? - Travel whole world, experience more
- What do you want to contribute to the Economic field? Maybe your dream? - No, don't feel like I can have such high achievement, but dream to be a successful business woman.
- Who inspired you beside parents? - No. (I'm super honest =.=)
- Didn't you read anythings from those successful businessman, so you can learn from their mistakes and avoid that? And whose biography you read? - I read articles from internet, but not only 1 particular ppl.... (They kept laughing when I mention FB =/)
Ohya, some of the questions asked based on the essay we submitted when we apply and this is my paragraph 1 :
"Values and beliefs serve as a guideline in our daily life. Without them, we would be mechanical like beings. Values and beliefs actually determined how we expect things to be and how we will react to different kinds of situations."
- What values system you are holding to? - A good leader is also good follower =.=
- What you said doesn't seems convincing enough, can you tell us more like (example, example, example) - Process is more important to me, result ain't the most important...
- As you wanna be a businesswoman, how you going to choose between family and career like how Singaporean feel stress to this issue now? - I will try to balance it.
- You can't be greedy to have both? - I'll still choose to balance it as I won't wish to sacrifice my dream cause of family or vice versa. Even though process is suffer but as long I tried, I'll feel satisfy.
That's basically everything that happened in that 15mins.
I feel good with that as I didn't nervous till that serious like how I imagined I will.
Although I didn't understand why the interviewers kept laughing. I don't feel my answer is funny also =.=
I told the person-in-charge about they kept laughing and he replied me it means they relax and enjoy the interview =.= I don't believe, it sounds like comforting =.=
So that's all for today =D
Cheer,
WanQi
